Special Shows

Annual Members Only Award Show – Each March, COAL holds it’s Annual
Members Only Award Show. An independent judge, selected by the show directors and
approved by the Board of Directors, judges this show. Ribbons and cash prizes are
awarded at a reception and award ceremony held on the Sunday following the show
opening.

The Annual Members Only Award Show prospectus is generally posted on the
Welcome Page of this website 60 days before the show. The prospectus provides show
rules, entry forms, prize money, dates, & times. Members must have their dues paid and
current to enter this show.

Annual Open Juried Award Show – The Annual Open Juried Show, open to non-
members as well as members, is COAL’s signature event each year. It is held in August
and draws entries from all over Southern California. Two independent judges, selected by
the show directors and approved by the Board of Directors, judge the show. Ribbons and
cash prizes are awarded at a reception and award ceremony held on the Sunday following
the show opening.

Annual Small Image Award Show – As part of COAL’s December show, a “show
within a show” display of small images is featured. Ribbons and cash prizes are awarded
in the small image category. The rest of the monthly show is also judged and ribbons only

More Special Events

Annual Village Faire Art Festival – Each Labor Day weekend, COAL co-sponsors an Art Fair in
conjunction with the Village Faire Center where the COAL gallery is located. COAL artists demonstrate
their art techniques and display their art for sale. The public is invited to draw from a live model and
there is music provided by the center. The Annual Village Faire Art Festival registration form is
generally posted on the W elcome Page of this website 60 days before the festival. The registration form
provides festival entry rules, entry forms, dates, & times.

Annual Members Holiday Luncheon – On the 2nd Saturday of December, COAL hold its annual
holiday luncheon and business meeting at a local restaurant. The Officers and Board members for the
following year are introduced. A short report on COAL’s plans for the coming year is reviewed. The
highlight is the presentation of a plaque to the “Volunteer of the Year”. A reservation form for the
luncheon and directions to the restaurant are posted on the Welcome Page of this website about 60 days
prior to the luncheon.
